About IIIT Trichy
Indian Institute of Information Technology Tiruchirappalli is also known as IIIT Trichy. It is one of the top 20 IIITs in India. IIIT Trichy was built with the help of the Government of India, the State Government of Tamil Nadu and a few industrial partners. The Institute aims to achieve world-class excellence in information technology and computer science. IIIT has a vision of imparting education to students and preparing them for future endeavors.
The institute first started to function in the year 2013 from the campus of the Bharathidasan Institute of Technology (BIT) Campus. It then shifted to the campus of the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapalli in 2016 and has been functioning from that place since then. The permanent address of the IIIT Trichy campus which is still in it is setting up phase will be established in Sethurapatti Village, Srirangam Taluk, Tiruchirappalli which is 15 km away from Tiruchirapalli Junction and 10 km from Viralimalai Town, Pudukkottai District along the highway of Tiruchirappalli to Madurai. The location is around 10 km away from Viralimalai Town and 10 km from Tiruchirapalli Junction. The Government of Tamil Nadu granted an area of about 56 acres for setting up this premium institute.The permanent campus of IIIT Trichy will provide the students with all the modern amenities which are required to prosper in their educational careers. To sum it up IIIT Trichy provides students with an environment which is ideal for both personal and professional growth.
IIIT Trichy courses are offered at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels to the students. IIIT Trichy admission in B.Tech courses is offered on the basis of JEE Main rank and score followed by JoSAA counselling. BTech admissions for this year are currently ongoing, round 5 allotment results have been released by JoSAA, interested candidates can refer to the official website for more information. IIIT Trichy has not released its placement report for 2025, as per the report of previous year, the highest package offered to students was 46 LPA. The average package stood at 10 LPA in 2024. The Institue has observed an overall growth in placement. The top recruiting companies were CS, Amazon, Infosys, Tesco, Nvidia, IBM and Publics Sapient.
